Positive Benefits of Decluttering Your Space Pt 2
Last week I talked about 3 positive benefits of decluttering your space and this week and wanted to dive in just a bit deeper with some more tips. If you missed that blog post, you can read it here.
Let’s continue with this important topic of clutter. Not always a popular conversation, but always a necessary one to have.
Have you ever noticed that all of the beautiful rooms you see online never have any clutter in them?
There’s a reason for that and it’s because clutter doesn’t add any benefit to a space let alone a beautiful one. If a beautiful room is what you dream of then let’s tackle your clutter.
Here are the tips.
Decluttering Your Space Allows You To Take Back Your Power
When you stand tall to your clutter and rev up the energy to eliminate it, you’re taking your power back. You’re basically facing it head on and eliminating it. Now that’s powerful!
It’s so easy to just ignore the clutter, but that does nothing but add on to it and make it even bigger. Facing the clutter and tackling it is hard work so when you take it on, you get to stand tall because you did that ish! You took your power back!
Positive Benefits of Decluttering Your Space Allows You To Get To The Root of It All
There are A LOT of emotions tied to things whether we want to face it or not. Clutter doesn’t just turn up overnight. It accumulates over time. When we tackle our clutter, it allows us to get to the root of the issue.
Is it depression?
is it overwhelm?
is it grief?
is it loneliness?
Ever watch the show Hoarders? It’s a tough show to watch, but what I find so interesting is when the show talks about the root of the issue. How the person allowed for the clutter to accumulate. It’s always tied to something because clutter is just the manifestation of something deeper. There’s always a root issue so by going through the process of decluttering, it allows you to get to the root of your issue.
For me that was depression and overwhelm. Whenever my space starts to look cluttered, I now know that it’s because these issues are resurfacing.
If overwhelm is your root cause, I put together a simple tutorial with tips on how to declutter and organize your space. You can find the tutorial here.
Positive Benefits of Decluttering Your Space: Experience Peace
When your space is clutter free, you get to experience peace and calm. What better motivator is there than that? Eliminating the junk or things that no longer serve us allows us to experience all the good feels since our attention is no longer on the elephant in the room.
Positive Benefits of Decluttering Your Space: Create More Space
It’s obvious that clutter not only takes up mental and emotional space, but it also take up physical space and for those that live in small spaces, that can be an even bigger issue.
When you eliminate the clutter, you allow for your space to expand. You’ll experience more square footage and the feeling of confinement will be gone because of it.
