Decorate A Side Table Using 5 Items You Already Own

Decorate A Side Table.png

Side tables are an element in a room that can be forgotten about when it comes to decorating a space.

I want you to know that learning how to decorate a side table is something that you want to pay close attention to because when you’re space isn’t styled, it flat out looks unfinished and that’s not a cute look no matter how fly your furniture is and this also goes for a coffee table, bookcase, nightstand, etc, but le't’s stay focused on side tables for now.

I mean it’s like putting in all this effort into making your room look cute, but then not finishing the job.

So I’m here to put you on to 5 items you probably have in your room right now that you can use to decorate a side table because I’m not having you or your room looking all unfinished and ya’ll know how I love ease.

Before we get to the items, let me point out that the items you use to decorate a side table should be things that you absolutely love and bring you joy.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s go.

Decorate A Side Table: Frame/Artwork

I love using these because they come in all sizes and can be used to add height to a side table.

The one thing that you want to avoid when accessorizing a side table is a flat or linear look because that is straight up boring so use a frame and mix things up by using a tall item.

Decorate A Side Table: Books

Books are that element that can take your styling to the next level because they allow you to make a smaller item seem bigger than what it is. This is what us professionals refer to as stacking.

So don’t rule out the smaller items like statues instead elevate them, literally with books.

Decorate A Side Table: Statue

Now that we’re on the subject of statues, they are perfect for personalizing your side table or any area of your room for that matter. They bring in your style and personality into the room, which is always the goal since your room should be a reflection of who you are.

So take a look around your home and find statues or trinkets that you love and add them to your side table for a personalized look.

Decorate A Side Table: Plant/Flowers

Now these don’t have to be real. I love me some plants, but I can’t have them in every area of my home so I take advantage of fake plants.

Not into plants? Use flowers instead for some extra color (again, real or fake).

Whichever you go with know that plants and flowers add interest to a room, bring the outdoors in and can make your side table look really pretty too so why not?

Decorate A Side Table: Table Lamp

Your side table should be functional. It should serve a purpose in your room because if it isn’t then it’s just taking up space and that’s a no no especially for my small space living people. The last thing that we want to do is fill up our room with stuff because that’s how clutter is born.

One way to make your side table functional is by adding a table lamp. Rooms need at least 3 sources of lighting in order for them to have the right amount of lighting so adding a table lamp checks that off the lighting to do list. I break that down in this post.

Let me also add that most people love to read in a room and a table lamp makes that easier to do too.
